I am a native of the City of Decherd. I went to Decherd Elementary School and was in the first class at North Junior High School. I graduated from Franklin County High School. Then attended Motlow State Community College studing Business Administration. I went to work for H. G. Hill Co. where he worked for 9 years. During which time I joined the Decherd Fire Department as a volunteer on September 22, 1978. On the same night I started working as a part-time dispatcher/jailer for the Decherd Police Department. In 1982, I went full time with the Decherd Fire Department. I completed several schools that pretained to the job. In 1985, I was promoted to Training Officer and given the rank of Captain. In this position, I assisted in helping the Fire Department start several programs to assist the public. I acquired a Bachlor of Science Degree in Fire Science from Ashwood University. When the Department joined the Tennessee Commission on FireFighting, I got certification as FireFighter I, II, III. Then went and obtained Fire Instructor I and Officer I through the Commission. I am a licensed EMT-IV through the State of Tennessee. I attended classes for this at the University of the South in Sewanee. I hold a certification in arson investigation and have been certified as an expert in fire cause and orgin in the Sixth District of the Federal Court System. I hold license from the Tennessee Fire Marshall's Office in both commericial and residential building construction and for both in plumbing inspection and as a fire inspector. I have N.F.P.A. Certification as a Fire Inspector I and I.C.C Certification in building and plumbing.

The objective of the Codes Enforcement Department of the City of Decherd is to administer and enforce the Building Codes, Zoning Codes, Municipal Codes, and Fire Codes adopted by the City of Decherd. This Department is here to assist the citizens of the city and the potential developers that wish to construct within our jurisdiction.
