Vacation House Checks-If you are planning a vacation or lengthy absence from your home, you can have your home checked by a patrolman periodically during your absence. A form must be completed that contains contact information in the event of an emergency.
Highway Watch Program-This program is administered by the Tennessee Trucking Association, in partnership with the Tennessee Office of Homeland Security. Its goal is to provide and ensure safer highways throughout the cities, states, and nation as a whole. A trained and certified Highway Watch Officer conducts this training at various times throughout the year. This program is not only focused on those in the trucking industry, but also school bus drivers and citizens who travel the highways as well.
Residential Security Assessments- This program is designed to help residents make their homes more secure against burglaries. An officer will conduct a survey of the home to identify weaknesses in the homeís security. The officer will assess various security elements, everything from locks, lighting design and landscaping, and then make recommendations on solving possible problems identified.
Child Identification Program- The Decherd Police Department provides, at various times throughout the year, opportunities for parents and guardians to obtain a Child Identification kit free of charge.
Residential Speed Enforcement Program- This program enables citizens to request traffic enforcement in a specific area where the citizen believes that there may be a problem. The request is passed on to the Patrol Division, which will in turn assign at least one unit to make a special patrol and/or conduct radar operations to help ensure speed compliance and general safety.
